Volunteer scheme is implemented in Melghat Region of Amravati district. Tribal’s Population has Different languages and Superstitions about various diseases. Whereas health-care providers are mostly unaware of the local language (korku). In that tribal areas local tribal language (korku) used which are health-care provider are mostly unaware. Therefore volunteer Scheme who known local and Marathi language.
Considering this fact, two local volunteers, one male and another female, who know the local languages and can understand the concept of positive health is appointed as a Health Volunteer in tribal PHC, RH & other Health institutes of Melghat to guide local patients for proper treatment and referral.
The volunteer receives patients in PHC/RH/SDH and direct them for case papers & further treatments. Volunteers understand the health problems of patients in local languages and communicate to the Doctor's & Nurses for the treatment. They inform patients about the instructions given by doctors and nurses.
Objective and Implementation Strategy:-
The health volunteers give public health messages to the population in local language (korku) to make them understand the benefits of the program. The volunteer attend patients in PHC/RH/SDH and help them to direct for case papers & further treatments. Also, volunteers understand the health problems of patient in local language and communicate to doctor & nurses for the treatment. They inform patient about the instructions given by doctor and nurses.
Two health volunteer, one male and another female are appointed in tribal PHC/ RH / other health institutes of Melghat region to guide local patients for proper treatment and referral.
Most of the volunteers are matriculate. The volunteer is given training for one week.
Achievement of Program:-
Since 2013-14 health volunteer has attended2, 57,725 patients and 1, 13,980 patients have been given health messages in Melghat.
