Mobility Support

It is a scheme to provide mobility system for referral of patients, transportation of vaccines and supervision of mission activities.

Mobility support is required to transfer emergency patients and women in labor in health institutions, transfer routine patients, support to implement the activities related to National Health Programs and visit to ASHA, ANM and health institutions for supportive supervision.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

  • Repairs of currently off-road ambulances
  • Preventive maintenance of on-road ambulances
  • Procurement of new ambulances where-ever not available
  • Provision of driver where ambulance is there but driver not posted to IPHS institutions (PHC and above)
  • Provision of supervisory vehicles to district official and above involved in mission activities

PLAN OF ACTION 2011-12

Approach for mobility support will be as follows:
  • Support to existing ambulances in the form of repairs, POL and hiring driver if required if the state government grants are not sufficient due to higher load in health institution. This budget will be provided to RKS of the institution. This will ensure 24 hours availability of ambulance
  • Provision of ambulances wherever not available.
  • Review of all supervisory vehicles available in state and provision of supervisory vehicles where ever not available.

PRESENT STATUS

About 85% PHCs/Rural Hospitals and all District Hospitals have ambulances. However many of the presently available ambulances are off road as they require repairs. It is proposed to provide funds for repairs, POL and driver salary whichever is deficit, to these institutions through RKS with condition that repairs to be carried out only by authorized dealers.

Supervisory vehicles will be provided to BPMU, District, Regional and state level personnel who are directly engaged in support and supervision of NRHM activities in the state.

Ambulances were not available in 311 PHCs of state. Out of which 102 PHCs were provided with ambulances in 2008-09. Ambulances to 209 PHCs are provided this year. Now all PHCs have either on hire or own ambulance
